Neighborhood overview
Waikiki Beach is just a couple minutes walk from the entrance, along with more amazing restaurants and high end stores than can be listed here. Bring your appetite and sense of adventure as you explore all that this area has to offer!

The birthplace of modern surfing and once a retreat for Hawaiian royalty who enjoyed surfing on early forms of longboards, this area was the playground of Hawaiian Royalty, and “kapu” (forbidden to anyone else).

The Kuhio Beach area hosts two world famous surf breaks, "Queen's" and "Canoes," where several surf competitions are held annually.

Kuhio Beach Park (just a couple minutes walk) is the site of three well-known landmarks:

1) Stones of Kapaemahu - The stones represent four legendary men; Kapaemahu, Kahaloa, Kapuni and Kinohi, who came to Hawai'i from distant lands.
2) Duke Kahanamoku statue - created by sculptor Jan Gordon Fisher, and dedicated to the world famous surfer on August 24, 1990.
3) Prince Kuhio statue - created by sculptor Sean Browne and dedicated on January 12, 2002.

More great things in the area:

- International Market Place - lots shopping and a variety of excellent gourmet restaurants make this the perfect place to go for dinner and drinks!

-Hy’s Steakhouse - an elegant, tranquil ambiance, top-notch customer service, and an all-around five-star experience.

-ShoreFyre – great place for breakfast and brunch and really close by!

-Kuhio Beach Grill – a great breakfast and brunch seafood buffet that’s also really close by

-Marukame Udon - Very popular Japanese noodles. There’s always a line, but it moves quickly.

-Duke’s - excellent buffets with ocean views!

-Orchids - global fare & a popular Sunday brunch in a casually elegant space filled with the namesake flower. The buffet is 5 stars!

-T Galeria - more shopping featuring luxury brands)

-Waikiki Zoo - native exotic wildlife a walk away

-Waikiki Aquarium - native exotic sea animals just a little further than the zoo

-Epic Aloha - an Interactive Photo Museum

-Nocturnal-Adventures Hawaii - a unique night time experience on the water (only a 10 min drive) Often times you will see turtles swim right by you, and you can watch the Waikiki fireworks every Friday on the water while paddle boarding, the best view of the fireworks that you will find!

-Free ukulele lessons are available daily at 10:30 & 4:30 on the second floor of “Ukulele Store” in Waikiki. Learn real Hawaiin songs!

-Free yoga class on the lawn on Wednesdays. Just sign up through Shiatsu & Massage Center.

-Waikiki’s Farmers Market - Tuesdays & Thursday evening 4-8PM inside the Hyatt Regency Hotel when the lights create a magical scene.

-Diamond Head Crater is a very popular hike thats just a few min drive (or an UBER or Lyft away) that offers great views of the ocean, waikiki Beach, the city of Waikiki, and the Hawaiian mountains. Check it out and other great hikes with the “ALLTrails” app.

-Burgers at Cheeseburger Beachwalk are excellent.

-Giovanni Pastrami has an amazing diverse menu.

-Honolulu Cookie Company has delicious treats!

-Spend a fun free day out just walking around and exploring. Walk all the way to Ala Wai (opposite end of Diamond Head) or all the way to the Waikiki Aquarium and check out everything in between. Take your time, enjoy yourself, and try to imagine what it was like when the Moana Hotel was first built.
